Who am I? Answer My name is Cliff Hammock. I am a 41 year old engineer who resides in Georgia. You can see some of my childhood pictures in the Photo Gallery, alongside my brother Donnie Hammock, who died tragically at the age of 18 in a house fire.

What is this all about? AnswerThe concept is simple. I wanted to pay tribute to my brother, who died tragically at the age of 18 in a house fire. August 8th, 2006 will be the 25th anniversary of his death. I decided to create this memorial to raise funds for the benefit of several charities and community organizations.
I am basically taking contributions that will allow me to complete the memorial on the Home Page. For every US dollar contributed, a pixel will be displayed making the online memorial image of my brother come to life.
Each block on the memorial is 400 pixels and there are 40 blocks across and 62.5 blocks down for a total of 1 million pixels.
You can see a brief bio of Donnie here.
There are details below on how the contributions will be used to support the charities and community organizations.

How did I come up with this idea? Answer By now, many of you have heard of the Million Dollar Home Page. I thought that the concept was very pure and simple and that it could be leveraged in many forms, including online memorials.
In addition to my brother's memorial, I plan to offer a service for others to create their own online tributes.

How long will this site be up? Answer Because this site memorializes my brother, I intend to keep it up and running indefinitely.
|
Can I put a link to your progress bar on my site? AnswerSure, you can link to this site using the following code. It links to the actual graphic on my site, so when I update it, your site will be automatically updated as well. Also, the image links back to my site in a new browser window.
Click here to get the code.
The image should look like the one below once you paste the code into your website.

What technology did you use to setup this site? AnswerI am using DotNetNuke build and manage this website. It is an open-source portal management tool freely available for everyone to use. I have been using it for several years now with great success. Visit DotNetNuke for more information.

Why is there a horizontal scroll bar on the home page? Answer Because of the need to setup the home page in proportion to the image I choose for A Million Dollar Memorial, the minimum screen resolution is 1024 x 768. If you use 800 x 600 or lower resolution, there will be a scroll bar.
|
Why am I doing this? AnswerI have undertaken this effort for two main purposes.
- Pay tribute to my brother
- Raise a signficant amount of funds for charitable purposes
|
How will contributions be distributed among the charitable and community organizations? AnswerThe funds contributed through December 31st 2006 will be distributed to charities and community organizations in the following manner.
